We emphasize working together in order to experience a practical application of training methods while doing away with unnecessary formalities. The programs at Darwin Martial Arts are a unique mix of techniques & concepts, inspired by various disciplines from around the world. The classes are very welcoming to members of all skill levels and designed to foster growth for each person at a manageable pace. Our dojo is the place to train if you're interested in joining a diverse community dedicated to the developments of self-confidence, fitness, and a humble way of forging your own path through martial arts.

Jean's martial art training took off in 2010. His early practice included traditional Judo methods and by the time he found us he had progressed to a black belt in Kenpo.
After becoming an exemplary member of DMA he was excited to embrace the path of instructing others and has recently become part of the team as an assistant instructor for Muay Thai Evolution classes.
His journey here is ongoing as he is on the mats for almost every program we offer and we are happy to see him embrace the role of teacher as he continues to grow as a martial artist.
Kevin is a martial artist that began practicing in 1985. His training includes many styles, both traditional and modern in order to develop a perspective that combines the methods of these arts in to a well balanced blend of history, creativity, and practicality. He learns, trains, and teaches martial arts wholeheartedly, driven by a passion to discover and express himself while applying ideas from Tao & Zen to these processes.
His fitness schooling began in adolescence, from basic calisthenics, through grueling wrestling room workouts, to eventually working alongside personal trainers, and becoming a Health & Wellness Coach at a local fitness center.
By melding the two paths into one journey, he established Darwin Martial Arts as the place where he can continue to explore and share these experiences, while creating new ones with an amazing community.
Francisco has solid history as a martial artist since 2002. He is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with training in Wrestling, Daito Ryu, and the “Aiki” arts.
Though grappling became a specialty over the years, NAGA Championship was only the beginning. His journey has also included Boxing & Muay Lao training, professional MMA competition (2-1-0), and assisting the corners of a few of RI’s local fighters.
Along with his enthusiasm for all kinds of training methods, his attitude towards life is simply refreshing and we are honored that he is here to share his talents with us as an instructor & friend.

Muay Thai Evolution
Monday: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Wednesday: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Saturday: 11:00am - 12:30pm

Training dives into the “Brutal Ballet” known as Muay Thai. Thai Boxing was developed as Muay Boran and is frequently referred to as the “Science of Eight Limbs” due the extensive use of kicks, knees, and elbows while boxing. We focus on these elements as the base for our training methods which incorporate Western Boxing, Capoeira, Savate, Kali, Silat, & Wing Chun by applying Jeet Kune Do concepts.

Workouts use strength and agility exercises in circuits that are tailored to help acclimate the body & mind to “going the distance”. As our training evolves the circuits will change regularly and the exercises will be modified to suit each member’s capabilities while we aim to optimize our health & fitness levels.

Classes emphasize Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques & live sparring (a.k.a. “Rolling”), while incorporating methods from Wrestling & Daito Ryu/Aiki-Jujutsu. BJJ is essentially the most recent progression of Jiu-Jitsu, which originated in feudal Japan, and continues to evolve as international popularity increases daily. Whether we are grappling on the ground or standing up, our extraordinary coach guides our training with a focus on practicality and usefulness.

Thursday: 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Saturday: 1pm - 4pm
Hours are included in all memberships and the dojo is free to use for conditioning, drills, bag work, weapons, sparring, and whatever else we feel like practicing. Every training session is different and the last of us usually hang out and chat for a bit. All current members are encouraged to attend, in addition to regular classes!!!

Private lessons will feature personalized guidance through the journey of martial arts and exercise. Whether supplementing your group training or not, this feature will benefit those who seek customization, privacy, and individual attention to development while training.
Personal Training rates are also available to small groups of 2 – 4 members who would like to customize their group training.

Our classes welcome all levels of experience (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Professional, Etc.).
